About MayPall
MayPall, Inc. began with a scientific breakthrough in a University of Wyoming lab, where
Professor Mark Gomelsky explored how harmful bacteria stick to surfaces. His team
discovered that Listeria monocytogenes, a germ that clings to most plant surfaces,
avoids maple wood. After years of research, they pinpointed natural compounds in
maple wood and sap that prevents Listeria from sticking. Excitingly, they found that
some of these compounds also works against Streptococcus mutans, the main bacteria
behind tooth decay (cavities). By preventing cavity-causing bacteria from attaching to
teeth, these compounds stop plaque buildup, protecting enamel from damage caused
by bacterial acids. This discovery inspired MayPall’s mission: to create natural, anti-
plaque dental products that are safe to swallow. Unlike traditional products that kill oral
microbes, MayPall's compounds stop harmful bacteria from sticking to teeth, preserving
the mouth’s microbiome. The groundbreaking research by Dr. Gomelsky and colleagues
was highlighted in a Press Release by the American Society for Microbiology:

Founded in 2024 by Professor Mark Gomelsky, Dr. Ahmed Elbakush, pre-dental student
Lucas Wall, and business major Leo Gomelsky, MayPall is dedicated to preventing
cavities with natural, science-backed solutions. Dr. Elbakush discovered the anti-plaque
potential of maple-derived compounds, while Lucas Wall contributed expertise in
Streptococcus mutans, the bacteria behind tooth decay. Leo Gomelsky, inspired by his
childhood dental challenges, drives the business vision. Initial funding from the
University of Wyoming’s John P. Ellbogen $50K Entrepreneurship Competition fueled
our company research into natural compounds, leading to our first product line —
MayPall’s safe-to-swallow, natural mouthwashes. Visit our News section for updates on
our progress and innovations.
At MayPall, we focus on young children, over half of whom develop cavities by age
eight. We believe dental products for kids should be safe, effective, and fun,
encouraging healthy habits early on. We also understand parents need affordable
solutions to prevent cavities, saving time and money compared to costly treatments.
Our all-natural, edible products, made with natural ingredients are safe to swallow and
taste great — no worries if a child swallows their mouthwash! We’re thrilled that our
science-backed solutions are gaining popularity among adults seeking natural oral care
as well as elderly and disabled individuals needing easy-to-use options. MayPall is
committed to transforming dental care with innovative, natural products for everyone.
